Seaport-e

describe the image

Two of the major goals of the Seaport-e program are: 1) to award 33% of the total dollars in the program to small businesses and 2) to require large businesses to subcontract at least 20% of their award to small businesses.

The US Navy uses Seaport-e as their electronic platform for acquiring support services from large and small businesses in 22 functioning areas, including Program Management, Engineering and Financial Management.  This portal provides a simple standardized and efficient means of soliciting offers from small and large business that can assist in these areas.  The entire Navy Systems Commands (NAVAIR, NAVFAC, NAVSEA, SPAWAR and NAVSUP), as well as the US Marine Corps, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and the Office of Naval Research, utilize Seaport-e to award contracts.  Seaport-e is the preferred way to do business with the US Navy, and 85% of all Seaport-e contract-holders are small businesses!  Rolling Admissions to register with Seaport-e occur each spring, so call Tech BizSolutions to see how we can help get you registered today!

As with all Government and DoD contracting, it is crucial to remain in  compliance with your company's Seaport-e awarded contract.  It is critical to remain in compliance with all timekeeping, delivery and accounting system requirements.  If you have been awarded a Navy contract, or are a member of Seaport-e, you need to ask yourself some critical questions:

  • Is your accounting system compliant with FAR, DCAA and DFAR requirements?
  • Are you efficiently reviewing proposal and contract requirements and flow-downs?
  • Are you winning all of your bids you think you should win?
  • Is your profit margin where you would like it, or is "Specification Creep" eroding your profit margins?

If you cannot answer these questions positively, or you have other questions about enrolling in Seaport-e or managing your current US Navy contract, call Tech BizSolutions today!
