California firm wins SBIR Phase II - now what?

The euphoria lasted as long as it took to get the call from the DCAA. The government needed assurance that the company had a government compliant accounting system before the contract could be issued. Tech BizSolutions responded quickly setting up a QuickBooks accounting system and helping the firm pass both the proposal audit and the accounting systems audit. The firm's first voucher for payment was recently approved and payroll checks are cut - initial steps on the first of what hopefully are a number of successful Phase II's.

Reluctant client’s government R&D backlog attracts investors

A client recently asked Tech Biz to install our accounting system and then pass a DCAA audit on proposed billing rates. Their intent was to suffer through some SBIR contracts, then get out of the government R&D game.

Both tasks were accomplished successfully, resulting in our client receiving $1.5 million in SBIR contracts and another $2.2 million for a DoD research contract. This backlog of work also helped convince investors to contribute private funding. This enhances our client’s goal to develop a commercial application of their technology.

Needless to say, our client is rethinking their plans to abandon the government R&D market.
